On Sunday we rode out to The Desert Bar with Jag and Bev. With Richard and Patsy following behind in their car. You may remember we met Jag and Bev in Alaska back in 2009 and did some sightseeing with them up there. They are a lot of fun to travel and sightsee with. The Desert Bar is about 50 miles north of Quartzsite by Parker, AZ. You get off the main highway and go about 5 miles of dusty road! Yuck! But then you come out to this bar out in the middle of an old copper mine. The bar is solar powered and the tower you see is a cooling tower. They wet the top of it and the thermal induction of the tower cools the air below. They have 2 of these towers at the bar.
More photos of the saloon and surrounding area. A view from the bridge from the parking lot to the bar looking down at some of the cooks.

We left the Desert Bar and headed back to Quartzsite to visit our friends over at the RV America group. While we were passing through Quartzsite I saw this couple with a dog with booties on! Go figure!
We got back to our motorhome in time to get some finger foods to bring to the RV America group. Thanks Jag and Bev for the trip to the Desert Bar!
On the way to the RV America group I wanted to show the Quartzsite sign they have erected by La Posa North BLM .

There was a lot of good food and stories. A typical day in the life of people who stay out in Quartzsite!
The next day Sue and I went to meet some other friends at Crazy Al’s Pizza. Here Ed is toasting everyone!
Today we went back to the Big Tent and flea markets. I found this cool sculpture.
Tonight we went out to eat at The Grubstake. Here is Sue, Roger, Donna, Patsy and Richard. Notice the walls of the restaurant – grey tarp!
The food was good, but the service was horrible and slowwwww….
We will be out here a few more days before heading to Yuma.
Until next time!
