We finally left Lake Charles and headed west to visit friends. Our first stop was in San Antonio to visit our good friends Connie and Manuel. I forgot to take pictures for my blog (I have to get back in the swing of things), but Connie took some, so make sure you check her blog. We ate, played cards, played dominoes and ate some more. The usual RV friends thing!
We stayed at Connie and Manuel’s place Thursday and Friday and left Saturday morning and headed to Lazy L and L campground on the Guadalupe River near Sattler, Texas. Sattler is between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels, Texas. Saturday we played in the river and relaxed until the evening. The campground has a large covered pavilion where they had a live country band playing and since we were camping there we got in free!

The band.

Sunday we visited Mike Hicks, an old co-worker of mine form when I worked for the Caterpillar dealer in Lake Charles. Mike and his lovely wife Charlene invited us for a fish fry at their home in Boerne, Texas.

* sorry about the glare!

There were deer all over Mike’s property and the surrounding properties.

….

Today, Monday we played some more in the river and I did a little fishing. The river is very, very low. It is down about 4 feet from where it was last year when we took the grand kids here.

I fished for about a hour and a half this morning with my ultra-light rod and caught a few small bass and bream. No keepers but still a lot of fun. This evening I fished with my heavier rod and caught a couple small catfish and then this one keeper.

I got a few more bites but no more catfish.
I filleted the fish and Sue said she would cook it tomorrow. Yippee!!!
We leave here tomorrow and head to The Woodlands, Texas for Camp Freightliner, which is a 2 day class on our Freightliner chassis on our motorhome. The class is Wednesday and Thursday and I should learn a lot more about our motorhome and how to take care of it.
On another note, we were notified by Pilot Catastrophe to be on standby for Hurricane Irene. Hopefully, they will be no loss of life and we can get some more insurance adjusting done. That would sure help the pocket book.
Until next time!
