After we left Groves, Texas visiting out daughter and family we arrived in Cut N Shoot, Texas on Sunday to get ready for our Thanksgiving rally with our Camping Friends RV Club. Some of the club members came in on Tuesday, but the majority of them came in on Wednesday. They brought lots of firewood for our nightly campfires.
A couple of the big story tellers, Marvin and Dave!
Holly decided we needed some more wood split, so we let her try her hand at it. She did pretty good!
You can tell who the fire bug is! Hint, Hint….. Greg.
The rv park supplied the turkey and we supplied the fixin’s for Thanksgiving and everything was great!!!
Everyone left on Sunday, so Sue and I were by ourselves at the park until the following Wednesday when Roger and Donna arrived. You remember them from the last post… a month ago…. sorry.
Our Lone Star Allegro group was to come in the following week for our Christmas rally. I kept busy do some small maintenance on my motorhome and helping Roger on some of his projects. Sue, meanwhile worked on getting some of her signs ready for our trip to Quartzsite. She got an order for one from Dave and Linda (our Camping Friends club) and Roger and Donna wanted one also. She also had an order for one from one of our Lone Star Allegro club members and they needed it to be ready by rally time. She got all the signs done and then got another order for a sign from another Lone Star Allegro club member. You can check out her signs at her website Lazy Susan Art. We had about 9 signs prepared for our trip to Quartzsite, but she sold 4 of them. It looks like I am going to have to cut out some more signs.
Roger celebrated his birthday with us at the park and we all went out to eat at a really good hamburger place.
Here are a few pictures.
More of the group.
Dave licking the icing off of Sharon’s finger!
After the Lone Star Allegro rally we headed back to Lake Charles. I had to get some maintenance done on the motorhome and car before we head out to Quartzsite in January. I also attended our grandson, Weston’s chorus field trip to some places in Lake Charles where they sang Christmas carols. We also had to attend our daughter-in-law’s graduation from McNeese State University (Sue and mine’s alma mater). Sandi, Trevor, Weston and Austin
We celebrated Christmas at my brother’s house where we are parked with the motorhome.
Sue and Mary, sister-in-law, in the kitchen.
My turkey just fell apart when I went to carve it. I guess it should be tender enough.
You think my nephew, Trey is ready to eat?
We had a great Christmas! Thanks Danny and Mary for having Christmas dinner at your house!!!
If you have been following my upgrades in some of the previous posts I wanted to let you know that I have posted my inverter upgrade on my Phaeton modification page.
I bought a 4x8 sheet of 1/4” oak plywood so I can cut out some more of Sue’s signs. Here they are cut out – about 1’ x 2’ sign.
I then needed to sand them down.
Finally I needed to put a primer on them. (Weather turned nasty, so I did this inside Sue’s mom and dad’s house)
Now Sue needs to get some more backgrounds done over the next couple weeks. Go Girl!!!!
Over the last couple weeks I changed my oil and filter on the motorhome engine and the Onan generator. I also changed the fuel filters on the motorhome engine. Yesterday, I cleaned up the battery compartment of the corrosion I found when I changed out my inverter. I also topped off the water in the batteries. Today I changed the oil and oil filter on the Saturn.
Our plan is to leave on Jan. 9th and head to Houston for a couple days to visit family and friends and then meet up with a couple other motorhomes that are going to be travelling with us to Quartzsite on Jan. 12th.
Until next time!
