We left Lake Charles Monday morning and drove to Houston. We dodged all the bad thunderstorms that were going through the area and stopped in Houston to drop off a sign that Sue had painted for one of our Lone Star Allegro members. Thanks Richard!! When I stopped the "check engine" light came on and the display said "water in fuel". But it was poring down with rain and I wasn't about to get out and drain the water separator. The engine was running great and I had just changed both fuel filters the week before we left, but then again I just put a half tank of fuel in at a busy truck stop. I took a chance and drove on to San Marcos. We were supposed to stay in Houston a couple nights, but scheduling conflicts with our friends didn't allow us to visit. Sorry Jim, we will catch you on the way back through.
We drove on to San Marcos and stayed in the driveway of our friends Jim and Betty. Betty is an artist like Sue, so they spent Tuesday and Wednesday painting. Well Sue painted and Betty is working on a sculpture of a horse's head. It looks real good Betty! While they were painting I worked in the water in fuel issue. I drained the water separator filter, but all I got was good fuel NO water. So I unplugged the electrical connection to the sensor on the filter and shook out a bunch of water and then I blew out all the water in the connector. So I don't think I really had water in the fuel, but a false reading, because of the water in the connector.
Thursday we left with Jim and Betty to go to Boerne, Texas to attend a RV rally with them at Alamo Fiesta RV park with their RV group the Go Lucky SAMs. We had a great time. Thanks Jim and Betty!
Saturday morning we got up and drive to Walmart to top off my fuel tank and then head west to meet our friends Roger and Donna who are going to Quartzsite with us. We met them up in Junction, Texas and we drove to Fort Stockton, Texas yesterday. We wanted to make sure u got to watch the Saints play in the playoffs. We made it in time, but the Saints lost. $;$@&(( Saints!!!
This morning ( Sunday) , we are back on the road and want to reach Lordsburg, New Mexico. This will give us time on Monday to stop in Tucson to go to Trader Joes and then stop for the night at Gila Bend.
Sue is driving while I am updating my blog. I am updating the blog using my iPhone, because my Toshiba laptop has that fancy hard drive that parks itself whenever it senses motion and I have to click the message box to continue typing. It is real aggravating. I also have a couple photos of some deer in Jim and Betty's back yard. I am not sure where they will be placed in the blog so take that into consideration.
Until next time!
